It doesnt exist yet in my world. I'm still trying to justify it to myself which is a bit hard to do when theres masterbuilt guitars that can be ordered. Prices for used cars local to me have actually gone up, cross the border into leicestershire though and their plummeting.

Is yours in that lovely sky blue similar to your guitars colour?

Nah: Racing Green, which is why you didn't see it in the pics.

When we got it our neighbor just had to go one better and went and bought himself an XK (on the proceeds of his company he'd just sold to Motorola). Unfortunately, his car is a kind of copper color - I don't want the guitar that would look good with that one!

'Course, what I really needed for my photoshoot was a nice '60s E Type, in dark blue. Part of the delay in putting up the pics was while I went and asked a rare car dealer in Wandsworth whether I could come and photograph my guitar with one of their cars. And for a price, I could have...

Ah now i've just seen a used 4.1 XK near my mum for 6k. Its nearly candy apple red too. The dealer also had a nice testerossa that would look good with a knopfler strat on the passenger seat.

I certainly cant see me getting one of those on HP.

Oh my...!

The recession really doesn't mean much to you, does it Mr Ninja?

How fine your CS and Hotrod would look on the seats of that red XK... (Hint hint.)

The recession is biting hard mate. I'm currently looking at a 50th anni deluxe and trying to pick a guitar for the chop. The XK isnt going to happen. Whats the point of having a car that can pass anything except a petrol station  . A friend of the missus just traded her rover 1.6 for a tvr chimera on her husbands insistance despite them having a very new baby. He drives a golf diesel and says he cant use the tvr for day to day use. She went to melton mowbray some 20 miles away and it cost her £25 in fuel. The real stupid thing about that situation is that he's a junior accountant.

All i can do at times like this is dream.

Aaaaaaah...

If I had one of those I'd just have to build a guitar to match.

(Can't find a good pic in the right color...)

Its an exact replica of that car. I'll never understand peoples devotion to unreliable cars myself. Still it sounds nice somewhere near a octave down f# on tickover.

Won the deluxe haha. Now to bullet the Lp and a marshall.

Reliability? Good Lord, the likes of me and Nick Mason have teams of mechanics to take care of that stuff.

As if...

Anyway.

Tasty looking Deluxe. Congrats. You were the only bidder: did you find out what the reserve was?

Collecting in person, I trust. Don't want the wrong case candy turning up...

Yep the location is only 13 miles from my mums and the car is in for MOT with the only mechanic i trust on the 14th so i'm picking it up then. You can bet its going to get inspected with a magnifying glass. I'm considering taking a chordless and stringwinder with me to dismantle it. I want to check that body before i hand money over it doesnt look right to me. If you look at the front and back of the guitar the joins appear to be in different places implying a stepped join. Not something i've seen on fender bodies before so i want to check those codes to the hangtag. :D
I really dont like ebay.

Oh, really? Looks dead center front and back to me in the pix, but a personal inspection is obviously ideal.

Make sure he gives you the original strap buttons and saddles. Never mind playability; there is a genuine level of value in this one, unaltered.

A little confused by the previous post: are you buying the Jaguar as well as the Strat? Oh man...

Cheers - C

PS: to schmintan - you're surely wondering what the hell happened to your thread!?! We're only vamping here: soon as you come back with news of how you got on with the tech this thread reverts to its proper purpose...

Nah i'm not buying the Jag. I'm tempted by the 2ltr xd but its a fancy not a neccesity. The strat as you say is likely to become a collectors piece and wont suffer the depreciation the car will. I'll trust your eye on the join to my mind the join at the back looks alot lower. Are those saddles a replacement?
