Hello all. I am new to the forums and was looking for a little insight if anyone can be of any help. In 2001 I bought a SRV strat from the local music store. Finally decided to pull the plastic off about 6 months ago, and recently thought I would ebay it since I rarely played it. I was having a hard time dating it, so I broke down and pulled the neck. Imagine my surprise when it said Feb 27, 1992. It was signed by Chavez? (I think). Anyway, I have obviously decided to keep it and have been surfing the net lately trying to find info. Seems as if the new ones have jumped to $2000 (ouch!!). It does not have a brazilian neck. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Chavez may have been the worker that assembled the guitar. Some guitars have their signature on them. Mine does.

But who knows. to get more info, you're gonna have to give out more info. Like a serial number off the guitar.

I was always more of a gibson guy so I am not very familiar with some of the fender history. I have read that serial numbers on the SRV models don't mean much as they jumped around quite a bit. I had heard that the first year models in 1992 were very similar to the custom shops that were a very limited run in 1989. That the first few months of production , the guitars were actually made in the custom shop. As far as build quality that made the 1992s the nicest of the that model to date. Just wondering if there was any truth to this. Like I said, just want some insight as to what I have here. I have always loved this guitar, but it sat for a long time until I sold my les paul awhile back. Thanks again.
