You know, the guitar can be used and sounds great while being played. It's when your not playing that the hum will bother. I have to be very careful to keep the guitar volume down while I'm not playing and start playing as fast as I turn up the volume knob. So I guess it is normal with these single coils, right??

Question is, which pickups should I consider. I'm satisfied with the sound I get from the ones i alreay have. So I don't want no replacement pickups that would alter that sound. I want something as close as that and, of couse, noiseless. What are my options??

A Panamax surge protector with Noise filtration. Heres there discription of what it does.
Power Cleaning and Linear Filtration eliminates common symptoms of contaminated power (including loss of detail, pops, hisses, hums and visual artifacts) and allows your A/V equipment to perform up to its full capability

There is an artical in Premier Guitar new april edition on how to wax pot you pickups. If you feel you have excess hum you might try that. They say that it is mainly needed for MIM strats.

Try shielding it if it bugs you that much.
Here's how you do it.

You can get shielding tape or paint at Stewart MacDonalds website.
