Hey project, about how old are you? I'm in my teens and I just got my first SRV album about six months ago. I'm diggin' it. 8)

I'm 23! I started playing when I was 16 and back then I was really into hard rock and metal. I guess I'm really a Les Paul man at heart. When I discovered SRV I thought: "Man this guy's awesome!". It wasn't just his technique that took my breath away, but that great blues/rockabilly/funky guitar tone. Obviously I couldn't get those awesome SRV tones with my Les Paul, so I got my first strat. I love it! Now I'm a Les Paul/Strat man. Once you go strat, you never look back! :D

That's cool, that's pretty much what happened with me too.

I first heard SRV in the height of my metal craze a couple of years ago... Let's just say I didn't like it too much.

I've definately had a change of heart since then. :D

Many reasons. It's one of those building block guitars where you can play it like it is very clean or dirty it up with any effects and it would still sound perfect without muddying up. Probably the most versatile guitar you can buy. Another reason is that it's way ahead of its time and one of the smartest guitar designs of all time in my opinion. Just think about it. Most comfortable guitar shape and contour to fit right with your body when you're sitting down and playing as well as looking good at the same time. You can get 5 different positions, a huge pickguard so wherever you pick, you won't ruin the actually body of the guitar. A tremolo system that's stable as the headstock design. Jack position is further in the body so you won't have to hit the jack everytime you sit in a bigger chair or couch. Bridge pickup is angled so the pole pieces are lined up with the strings as bridge humbuckers aren't perfectly aligned with the strings ( I think it's more of cosmetic reasons than sound). You get a choice of maple fretboard or rosewood. I can go on and on about the guitar design. Oh yeah, and David Gilmour plays them.

Buying a Fender Strat was a lot cheaper than buying the Fender factory.

My dad used to own a 59' strat that he had from when he was a kid. i didn't know how to play guitar the first couple times i seen it but i loved the guitar. It used to be white but over the years it had faded to a creamy yellowed color. He ended up selling the guitar so we could get a house. but he still has his 65 tele. that is actually the guitar i learned how to play on. Towards the end of 06' i bought myself an american strat. main reasons besides loving strats all my life are stevie ray vaughan, jimi hendrix, rory gallagher, and dave murray, adrian smith, and janick gers of iron maiden.
