Welcome to the forum, Scotty! There are lots of people on here to help you on your journey. I've only been playing for about a year myself, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. But you need to know forum rule number one: when you get your Strat, you need to post pictures. 8)

Have fun!

Hey man! Welcome. I'm an 11 year player. First strat was a Squire bullet series Strat.

...With countless shred machines in between...

My recent, latest, and current horse is a MIM 50's strat. I've been a strat fan my whole life, and finally I'm on the crew with a couple of beauties.

What did you get? What kind of music do you play?

OK, figured it out ..... here she is and I can't wait to get my hands on her. At the minute I'm still looking for a practice amp, got my eye on one or two, anyone care to recommend something around the 150 pound mark?

Roland Cube 30 will get you some nice tones in most genres.

Man, I've owned Rolands, H & Ks, Marshalls, Voxs, Fenders, Crates, and others. NONE of them even came close to the tone, and the capabilities of the new Peavey Vypyr line. Some will scoff at them, but for the money there is not a better amp out there. I play a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe when I'm playing out, but this one is what I practice on most of the time.

For the money, this is a great little amp. it can be a little muddy, but in comparison to everything else in the price range, its the best of whats out there.

Scotty Pro Platinum,

Welcome to the Forum. I think you chose a cool color. I am sure you will love it when it comes in. If you are looking for an amp to play on, I like the Roland 30X. I am about to downsize my amp when my income tax refund comes in and that is my next purchace. I have played on them in the shops and think it will be a good step down for me and still get the sounds I am used to.

thanks guys,
well the two amps I had in mind, I'll emphasise the "had" bit since you lot have thrown in a few suggestions, were the VOX VT15 modelling and the VOX DA10.
to be honest I don't need anything bigger than a 10-15 watt amp since the room I will be "learning" in is not all that big, so, does that rule out the Roland 30 watt (seems awfully powerful" ).

steve_man that Peavey sure look nice but is the sound OK for a Strat?. and has it got a phones socket that disables the speaker?

cheers Paul

Hello Scotty Pro Platinum,

You can get the Peavey in 15watt
about $100 US dollars.

Vypyr series amps have the
headphone option.

Welcome to the Forum &
Best of luck with guitar playing.

Cheers.
