I'm really not the guy to ask as the whole concept of Relic and Road Worn is utterly ridiculous to me.

Another, I agree with you. It seems there is a group of people that love them and theres a group that as you said think its rediculous. Like I said in My post they are marketing to the peception of some. Thats what all Companies do they fine the present Fad and aim at there target consumer. In this case its people who would love to own a 50 year old Stratocaster but can not because of cost so they buy one thats made to look like one.

When are they gonna stop with the cheapo gimmicks, and maybe make some different guitars?

I bet you that the Roadworn's are one of the highest selling models this year & that's why my friend Fender has released them.

There are all over 3 dealers in my area and everyone's interested in them - doesn't matter if they are HQ or not , so many people really want a guitar that appears to be aged / tried and true / cool etc.

heck look at me, i even dared to suggest that my friend keep a brand new NOS EJ Rosewood with a .013" gap in the neck pocket - see some people just gotta have something other than a brand new pristine axe :-)

I'm another one of the no pre-reliced guitars folks.

I do like vintage looking guitars, vintage necks - but that can be had on a new guitar, both from Fender and Squier.

This is my first creation of my own burnt relic strat.

If it's cheap and plays well like so pictured, why not put a blow torch to it.

I had fun and I think that this Squier Strat is a bit more attractive to me now, considering it had to compete with my other high end AM Strats.
