with a lead neck on it. Anyone got a ballpark value on it. All hardware aside from the neck is original.

What color is it?

A complete '69 now seems to go for about $12K.

So maybe $6K or $8K to a motivated buyer .... what does a real '69 neck go for?

Its black. I dont have any kind of proof but i'd suspect a neck to fetch roughly 2 to 4 thousand in sterling.

EDIT wasnt that far out for a guess i just found this.

Niki,
Vintage Guitar guide lists the 69 common colors in excellent condition from $15,000 US. Blue Book has it at $12,000 in mint condition. I think Orville nailed it...

It's a crazy time for guitar sales , as far as I can tell from my eBay dreaming... some vintage instruments are going for around half what I would have expected even six months ago. Still out of my league, of course.

Anyway, I noticed a '69 sunburst in acceptable nick (wiring the only non-original part according to owner) sold last week for AUD $8000 after it had been passed in a couple of times. That's $5,500 or so.

A '66 neck that I'd had my eye on (and made a couple of furtive bids, probably best for my family life that I didn't get too carried away) went for $2,250 ($1,500). Cheapest equivalent neck from eddievegas.com (there's a name that inspires confidence for you... nice strat parts, though!) was about US $3,000, with nicer ones going for a grand more. This guy does seem to be shifting his gear, as quite a few flip to "sold" between visits.

A nice '69 neck from there seems to be about the $4,000 mark (not many in stock at the moment). Closest to those would be the '71 four-bolt necks, at about $2,650. I've seen a '71 sunburst with four-bolt neck in a store here in Sydney for $15k ($10k)... I'll be curious as to whether or not they get that for it. Not any time soon, I imagine, although it is a real stunner. Another store has a '69 sunburst for $12k ($8k), and it's been sitting there a while.

A clean original '69 body is priced at US $5,000 at that site with the necks. I guess the cost begins to spiral once you add pickups, etc (I've even seen sellers trying to get $50 for tremelo screws!), so if your find appears legit it might be worth your while to part it out. Seems kind of ghoulish, but it could be a good means to an end.
