I am wondering what is so special about the Highway 1 strats. They look expensive and not a very good paint job because I heard it was delicate. BOO!!! I don't want to pay a lot of money for a bad guitar. BOO!  :?: :x :x

What a weird post. BOOO!

Anyway, they're not BAD guitars, they're actually very good entry level American Strats with jumbo frets. I like the nitro finish, it will age and start to crack which looks cool to some people. The necks feel very different from an American Standard so when you go to the store and play both, pay attention to that. Also to cut costs, they come with a gig bag rather than a hard shell case.

I traded my 2007 Highway One in for a 2008 American Standard (actually returned since it was still within the time frame). That was a GREAT guitar and the tone was quite a bit different from an American Standard (Seemed like it could play the "heavier" stuff better). So whoever lied to you and told you they were "bad" guitars must not have even played one, much less owned one. So go out there and try one..

I've had nothing but constructive interactions with Mr. Always. He is blunt, but believes what he says and I appreciate that. And the Hwy1, at least the post '06 Hwy1s, are pretty nice guitars, I think. Its worth noting that I have never played a complete Hwy1.

The pre-2006 Highway ones are pretty nice as well...

I have a 02 hwy 1 that I like alot. I don,t play it much because of other guitars I own but it is a very respectable gutiar. Imputting CS 69,s in it now so Im sure I will be playin it alot more. They are just less fancy Am strats.

First of all why I posted boo is because I don't want to buy a Highway one strat if there not good and I don't really like jumbo sized frets. I can't fret that well. anyway I'm going to watch the ACC tournament on TV.

I have a late 06 Upgraded Highway 1 Strat and love it. I really like the Satin Finish paint job.

May I suggest going out and playing a few to see how YOU like one?

Big Jay,
The only knock I have on my 2002 Highway 1 is that the stock pups are somewhat noisy. The middle pup is not RWRP. But they have a great vintage-type sound so I have been reluctant to change them out.
But otherwise, it is a great looking, great playing strat. Nice playing neck, without the jumbo frets and a small headstock.
