Looking for a guitar suited to Jimi Hendrix's Genre. Can anyone recommend any? Someone recommended H.S.S - what are the advantages of this?

Thanks. Budget is not a problem within reasonable price.

Get an american standard strat. Its not a exact clone of the guitar hendrix used but its as close as you need to get and its well suited to other styles too. If money really isnt a problem contact your local dealer about commisioning a master builder to build you a one off clone of the woodstock guitar. As for amps only 3, 100watt marshall plexi's with 6, 4x12 greenback loaded cabs will do.

You may want to get some earplugs too.

And if money REALLY isn't any sort of problem whatsoever, have them build two and send me one.

Thanks for the replies,

What i mean by money isn't an issue is that i have a small weekly income - 250$ AUD. But because i'm still a student living at home i don't have any expenses to worry about. Although the Australian dollar isn't worth much atm.

Sounds like this is your first guitar....with that in mind, you might consider a Squire, a used Made in Mexico (MIM) or Made in Japan (MIJ) Stratocaster. None of these should cost more than $250-$500 (US$).

Third guitar actually. First was a lower end acoustic, then a lower end electric. Albeit i don't know much about buying a guitar.

Also whats with "relicing" a guitar? I understand John Mayer did it. Does it do something with the acoustics?

Well, you arent making this easy. Personally, I hesitate to recommend a guitar that I view as expensive for someone in your position in life.

However, you have already seen several posts that describe a wide range of options for you. Educate yourself as to the differences between a very high-end Strat ('68 Heavy Relic Ltd video), a mid-range Strat (used American Standard) and low-end Strat (Squire).

Niki's recommendation of an American Standard is right in the middle of the range you have seen. In my opinion, it could offer you the best "bang for your buck", especially a well maintained used one.

In my opinion, you should match a guitar to your ability to play it. If you suck (or still suck), buy the Squire. If you are average (ready to start your first band and are nervous about soloing in front of friends), buy the used American Standard. If you are good (people in awe of your ability), buy the '68 Heavy Relic.

Thanks, I'll probably sway towards the mid-range.

AdroG Australia enjoys a wide range of japanese strats. A quality instrument no doubt. Believed by many to be on a par with american standard guitars. They make various reissues of strats of certain years. A 67,8,9 (whatever year they make) reissue may be exactly what you want.

Quality instrument that will last you a lifetime and is well worth saving for.
