 I just bought a mim strat hss from sam ash this guitar has a tri color sunburst.aand also there are no seams in the body one piece!! I played 5 hss and this guitar smoked them all sweet bell tone on single coils and very hot humbucker I got the action down to 1.2mil at 17 with no buzz!I own 3 american fenders this guitar is on par with those !!!my question is as fender does not list a three color sunburst is this guitar a factory mixup? I will never part with this guitar this thing has the best sunburst that I have ever seen.btw there are no seams on the back and none und the pickgaurd.and I was there when this guitar was unpacked.so there is no chance sam ash did a pickup swap

Welcome to the Forum.

Take a look at this: http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0144702306

The Brown Sunburst is a 3 color burst.

Gotta be a lam top. I don't think fender even uses one piece on their most expensive custom shop models. In fact, one piece is said not to be good because it warps too easily. 2 piece is the standard for ultra quality bodies. And most high end bodies are 2 and 3 for the lesser models. In any case, it's certainly a lam top. Fender makes tons of those. But don't feel bad. You said it sounds great and looks great and theres absolutely no reason anything else should matter.

oczad is right on: Think veneer.

As for the warping issue, I have never seen a Strat with a warped or split body. I have 2 one-piece bodied Strats and Warmoth will sell you one-piece bodies all day long ...

Congratulations on a great guitar mate. Its a great feeling when you get a sensational guitar and you HAVEN'T had to pay a fortune for a top end model.

I recently bought a sunburst Tele and was in the same situation as yourself. I looked for the seams and couldn't find any. Then realised its just a really sweet looking laminated top. No harm done! It looks great, plays great, and sounds great. That's all that should really matter.

Cheers.

I agree veneer! Its that can of worms again Mexican as good as American made  That can seems to get opened every couple days don't it. Every MIM owner jumps in theres is as good as MIA and then it goes on and on. Debate begins!

I'll let ceri post that picture. I really don't like being the "bad guy" by exposing the truth. It's just so true that "the truth hurts."
