i noticed that if you buy Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar off of fender.com it will cost you 2,142$. But if you buy it off of musicians friend or guitar center.com it will only cost about 1,499$

Is there a difference in the guitar depending on who you buy it from :?: .

no there isn't you get the exact same instrument. gc etc. just doesn't make you pay list price. i recommend when buyin an instrument to go into a large chain guitar store (their prices are usually lower than a private owned) i recommend not buying guitars off of the internet because 1) you may not like the instrument without trying it 2) even if you try the same instrument in a store and buy it off the internet every guitar is different so try the exact guitar you're gonna buy before buying it 3) shipping problems may happen and it's a pain to have to send them back 4) you can barter with an employee and get an even lower price

happy buying!

Look at the MSRP and then knock 30-33% off that. That's about how much you should think about paying retail. Haggle from there.

i usually research fender .com for specs and purchase from a athorised fender dealer i use a owner operated store because i have found the staff is happier and more accomidating then chains i ussually get between 30 to 40 % off each purchase the more expensive the guitar the better the %

i searched the web for the best rated strats (best selling, highest customer rating, etc) then went to the music store. i played several and i went for a MIM, but ordered it off the web. it's a fabulous guitar, but it wasn't set up well. i chose to do the set up myself instead of a luthier or guitar shop, and i'm glad i did. i learned alot in doing so, and my strat is now set up for my style of playing and sounds awesome!

Instruments are not available for sale on Fender.com; the price you're referring to is the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP.) Typically the real world price you can expect to pay is less. This is not really any different than the way many other industries work.
