Just in relation to the trem bar on the american deluxe strat, I know it 'pops' in. Do you just pull it to get it back out? It's a bit stiff so I'm reluctant to pull to hard for fear of pulling the entire bridge out of the guitar, so I just want to confirm that this is the way to do it and that there is no release catch or anything before i try!

Thanks:)

Just be sure to grab it at the bottom where it bends and pull straight up!

If you remove the complete trem assembly theres 2 screws in the tremblock. You can loosen them off a little to make trembar removal easier.

I have 2004 anniversary deluxe and if you push down on the trem, the bridge lifts and there is a little screw hole for an allen wrench to loosen and tighten the trem. I just adjusted mine after it became loose over time. I don't know if your's is the same as mine but it sounds like it is.
