Hi folks,

I joined the forum after buying my new Stratocaster a little while back and didn’t think to upload a few pictures. Finally I am pleased to do this so here are a couple of links to a picture of my first Strat, ’59 I believe, and my new American deluxe Strat which is an absolute joy to own.

The circle is complete!

Cheers folks

HI Folks,

a little more information about my first Strat.

I bought it in 1963 from my cousin who was leaving a band and selling it. He had bought it brand new and was selling it for the princely sum of £30! Of course I was delighted and kept it until 1973 when I was getting married. I decided to sell the guitar so advertised it in New Musical Express and was pleased to get a quick response. I arranged to meet up with the potential buyer outside a local store with the instrument and to cut a long story short he was a conman and I was very dumb. He asked me if I would just leave the guitar in the cab he arrived in and give him a hand in the store to fetch some goods out. There was I inside the store waiting for him while my precious Strat was in the cab and the conman had vanished. Dashed back outside to see conman in cab driving off with my guitar. Dashed up the middle of main road following cab which fortunately stopped at a pedestrian crossing and I was able to exchange “a few sharp words” with conman and grab guitar back. How stupid was I? Anyway, I eventually walked up and down Charing Cross Road in London to see who would give me the best price and eventually sold it to “Top Gear” in Denmark Street for £100 and that was that. I always regret selling that Strat though. Lost the guitar but thankfully still have the wife who has just bought me my new American Deluxe as a surprise present. After selling the old Strat, I needed something to play so bought a fairly cheap acoustic but was lucky enough to have that set up by Dick Denney of Vox AC30 fame who was my friends dad. As well as designing amplifiers he was a genius guitar maker and while my old acoustic was not a Martin, it was and still is a fine guitar. Sadly Dick passed away a few years back and I remember he had offered to custom build me an AC30 from bits he had in his workshop. I knew he was really busy then so declined the offer. If only.....

Cheers all
Ken

So Ken, basically all you have left of your '59 Strat is an old photograph. Man that hurts... :(

Hell of a good story though mate! Congrats on the new Sunburst too. The new American Deluxe is a fabulous guitar.
