What would one of these be worth? Says its a -88 Malmsteen sig model. Neck is refinished but the serial number and headstock logos have been spared. If i converted the price to US dollars (and taking taxes etc in consideration) id guess its 1200 bucks asked for it. What you think? I guess the pups arent exactly original either, since the colors dont match on al lthe pups, but thats unimportant for me, im looking for a great player with scalloped board, and is this a fair price?

$1200 seems a bit high. I owned one from that year in Vintage White w/a rosewood board and it was a shredder!

That is a cool one though as Malmsteen's were never officially offered in black! That's only the second one I've ever seen.

Perhaps it was refinished? What should i ask for it then? Its in a shop, so not from a private person, so i guess the price would be higher, sigh. :( wouldve been better if the person didnt sell it to a shop, just a useless involvement.

It's hard to tell if it's a refin or not without having it in front of me, but it probably is original from the factory. I do know of others who have seen them in black as well, that's only the second one I've ever seen.

The pickup covers on mine were off colored as well as they were DiMarzio HS3's (at the time, the new models have the YJM pu's) and the middle was an American Standard.

If you could get into if for between $800-1000 I'd say that's pretty fair.

Ok, i will see, i doubt a shop will push it as far as 800, but maybe 1000, MAYBE. But are these real quality stuff, or just okay? Its between this and making a strat based on an allparts neck and japanese body, will probably end up at a little less perhaps.

Wouldnt it be better if you order a nice scalloped fretboard guitar from warmoth? I would do that :)

No, the Malmsteen is definitely a quality instrument. The only reason I sold it was to help pay for a CS set-neck Blackmore strat that I ordered. If you're going to put one together, then I would go with Warmoth all the way.
