I was wondering if anyone has tried one of these out? I got the chance to try one this weekend that a friend brought over. I was very dissapointed in it. I had build one a couple of years ago from a MIM Fat Strat ('03 , w/Callaham Bridge, S D ssl1 Bridge,Custom shop 69 Mid, Fat 50's Neck, copper shielding)all for about $500 total. And, IMHO it sounds way better than the 3k my friend spent, Any other opinions?

Yes! I highly disagree. I own one and in my opinion(probably doesn't mean much to you) It is the Finest guitar I've ever played! My opinion so take it for what it's worth. Also, you will get a lot more feedback in the Custom Shop Forum. Glad you like yours though! Peace!

I recently played a CS Clapton, Johnson, and Gilmour. All were at my local Best Buy, and all have been in stock for over a year, and were priced to move.
My fav was the Gilmour, and least fav was the Clapton. All were top notch instruments, with increddible attention to detail. The Gilmour had the best pups, but the Johnson had the best neck. Personally, I wouldnt want to invest in any CS artist model because I usually end up changing up one or more elements of stock gits, and I wouldnt want to bastardize a CS.
As far as not being impressed by the Gilmour, to each is own, but I think this guitar is a five star unit.

Yeah, I played a Gilmour (Relic) a couple weeks back and was completely blown away. I loved it! A top notch instrument! Now if I just had the wallet of a doctor or lawyer lol

I assembled my "Black Strat" last year after Phil Taylor's book came out. It has a '73 neck, tuners and neck plate, a 1980 Fender body, a new MIA vintage tremolo and the same electronics as the Gilmour.
