Hey All,

Has anyone tried to replace a faulty S1 volume pod on a HSS? Is it possible to buy a new one from Fender and what am I in store for doing the work myself?

All I can say is good luck finding one.

The S-1 switches are really hard to find. Check out Stewart-MacDonald. They may have some. Or maybe just google it. You can usually find some tiny electronics shop somewhere that carries them.

but hey, email Fender and see what they say. They may be willing to sell you one, or let you know where to find one.

Heya Mikamac....you can try or go to any Fender Authorized dealer as they might help you get a replacement as Fender don't sell direct to you.

Alternatively you can try eBay....i got mine from there. As to doing the work yourself, may i know if you have any soldering experience? If you are then it should not be a problem....but before you go un-soldering the joints please download a copy of the wiring diagrams from the Support page for referral...

Good luck!!

Thanks guys for your replies.

I am a little rusty at sodering but will hone-in my skills before attempting the repairs or switch replacement. I'm not sure if the part is bad because I am experiencing only an intermittant problem in 2 blade positions, one with the button compressed in the full neck position and the other on the center without the button pushed in. It sucks when I'm playing live with an audience and accidently knock the switch into a non-working position - it just goes dead! Luckily its only happened in a rythem section not a solo.

I was once told by a guitar tech, that the S-1 switching had very complicated wiring. Must different than the American Standard. He said it would be done by a tech. (Unless you're very good at it). It has a completely different wiring.
