. . . over the tremolo? I bought a used axe and it didn't have one. But, I did buy a new one from MF and it fits fine.

Just curious. Thanks.

I thought so. The luthier at the vintage shop that I bought it from said NO, but I didn't believe him. I got a new 72 Strat when I was a kid and I remember the cover - but I left mine off too.

There are 3 springs attached to the tremelo but room for 2 more. I expect that means I have 2 missing?

Thanks.

Most strats come setup with three springs on the tremelo. You can put two more if you want. You'll have to set up the guitar again after this, and pushing the tremelo bar down will have a stiffer feel.
