I'm in the market for a new amp fairly soon and I want a really nice, crisp clean tone. Which Fender amp has the nicest, cleanest tone? I have a pedal board with a bunch of pedals so I'm not too concerned with a Hi-Gain channel. I was thinking maybe a Blues Junior but I'm not sure.
Any advice on the cleanest Fender tube amp?

Thanks

I'd just go to the guitar store and try them all out. I truly doubt you'll get the honest answer on an internet forum. That said, If you want the best sounding clean amp I'd try out the lower wattage amps like the blues jr. princeton, or Deluxe. If you're looking for a clean amp without "Fender" characteristics, maybe go for a silverface 70's Twin, Champ, or Bassman. If you're looking for Tonally diverse, maybe a Supersonic or Hot Rod Deville? I'ts hard to recommend anything when we're left without the knowledge of how much power you need, where your're playing, and how much you want to spend, but I hopw I helped in some way. :)

Twin Reverb

x2

My last singer had one and I used to a/b between that and my JCM800. I loved that setup. I tried buying it off him but he wouldn't part with it.

The Bandmaster line of tube amps were excellent. In fact, one of the few criticisms of the Bandmasters is that they dont break unless you turn them way up. They are clean and pure tone. Very nice sounding.

They stopped making Bandmasters in 1980, but there are many used around for under $1000.

I run a gain-overdrive pedal that adds some crunch at lower volumes.

You would be surprised the range and variety of sounds you can get from a very simple amp package.

I agree but I think the cleanest sounding and hardest to get the tube to break is the Fender Twin Reverb or maybe a Twin!

Are you gigging? Recording? Playing with a band? You need to take all of these into account when selecting a new model. I use the Deville 212. Great cleans, and enough juice to play small/med venues. Not so great for the small practice room, though.

You might be correct, Hop. I dont have any experience with those. I'd like to, though.

BigJay. I recently got rid of a new Fender Twin Reverb because of two reasons.
1. it is heavy as H...
2. to get it to break at all you had to turn it up so loud you could not stay in the room with it.
Just too loud of amp unless you are a gigging musician. Which I'm certainly not!
So your suggestions are probably right!

The Twin Reverb is hands down the cleanest. The Princeton runs out of clean headroom early. The Bassman is not super clean, that's why so many Blues guys love it. It has incredible sounding natural distortion. Bandmasters aren't super clean either. I had a 73 SF for years. Sweet breakup.

Most amps are clean up to a point. It just depends on how loud you need it to be clean. My 76 Twin is clean till your ears bleed. My HRDlx starts to break up around 3 -4, my SF Champ about 4, My Deluxe Reverb around 4-5. It's all subjective.
