hello guys!
i've been reading this forum for years, but only now i've finally got a reason to register ant post :)

so here's the story:
15 minutes ago i've found an ad, some guy is selling a guitar and he's not sure, but looks like it's a genuine Strat, but i'm not sure, nor is he. Also the body looks weird..
also he states that it is 20-25 years old, though E in serial number means 1984 to 1987.
another strange thing - Kahler (or not?) bridge and locking nut.
oh, and the price is ~$150

here are the pics for your judgement:

What looks like a "genuine Strat" to you?

I am sure it's not a Fender.

Looks a little strange to me too. Take the neck off and see what is written on the heel and in the neck pocket.

Those look like real guitar strings. Everything else = fake.

The choppy-looking Fender logo alone is enough to make me walk away. A really bad copy!

You could also look at it from the perspective of the serial number.
E3 means 1983. No such design was made in 1983. That headstock is a dead giveaway.

If it's $150 for the guitar, the strap, and for the hard case, I'd say buy it.
I'm not saying to buy it because it's a Strat for 150, because it most definitely is not a strat, haha.

But $150 for any guitar + a strap and case is usually a good deal. Even if it's a junker you could sell the pups and the body and probably make some profit. And when isn't a case and a strap handy?

Just my opinion.

Hi nesinervink, welcome to the Forum.

I don't know why everyone is being so sceptical. You asked whether it is a genuine Fenter Strat? I'd have thought it very well might be...

Cheers - C
