Have another thread discussing full size humbuckers. Now I'm thinking of keeping my american standard in a S/S/S setup. I'm looking to achieve good tone for Classic Rock, Hard Rock and some Metal.

Any feedback on the following pups??

Seymour Duncan - Hot Rails
or
Seymour Duncan - Lil Screamin Deamon
or
Dimarzio - Fast Track 2
or
DImarzio - Tone Zone

The only one I have exp with is the hot rails. They are good for rock. I don,t know about metal since I don,t play metal. Get good VH sound out of them.

I tried Seymour JB's and found them a bit bland. Thats about the limit of my experience with JB's. Dimarzio fasttrack and tonezone i have plenty of experience with. The fasttrack is better if you play alot of metal and some rock, the tonezone alot of rock and some metal. If you want a classic humbuckered rock sound then look to the dimarzio PAF, arguably the humbucker all others wish they were.
Another great aspect of dimarzio pickups is that when they produce a singlecoil version of one of their humbuckers they dont just go for the same number readout. They will work the pickup to get the same tone as its fullsize counterpart.

I've used Duncan JB's and Hot Rails for years and love them. I have one guitar that has a HR in the neck position and an F spaced DiMarzio Evolution (full sized hb) in the bridge and it's a great combo!

A project I'm working on now has a HR at the neck and a Fast Track at the bridge...also a good combo.

I don't play metal, more hard/classic rock but the above combos work perfectly in that situation.

Dude, you should look at the dimarzio YJMs there Yngwie Malmsteen's pickups. They're stacked to sound like a humbucker but have single coil tone.
