Hi kk5fe: very pretty Strat, to be sure! Congrats. I can just see the join in the body timbers at the end but it is invisible front and back. Nicely done!

I was curious about the 500k pots and looked up the wiring diagram:

http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/ ... 21APg4.pdf

That sheet shows 500k pots, so I presume Fender put them there deliberately. Probably felt to be the appropriate pairing with the Seymour Duncan pickups: I'd think twice before second guessing them on that one - though I might be inquisitive to hear what the difference would sound like with 250s. Up to you!

Far as the brand is concerned: if they are malfunctioning then of course they need to be changed. Otherwise, with all due respect to the hallowed CTS I might be tempted to leave them alone. I have a 20+ year old Squier and apart from the body timber the unbranded pots are the only thing that's original. They work fine...

Cheers - C

the fender special edition lite ash strat. had a brilliant
five year run. i have a 07 and i simply love it. i paid $645
new for mine( no case) craftmanship of this little jem
is simply fantastic! solid ash body/birds eye maple v shape
neck/seymour duncan alnico pro II pu's/brass trem block.
this is a MIK Fender Stratocaster but i would match this baby
to any MIA production made Fender strat. this baby is pure tone and
ball's. it's a shame its gone now but i consider myself lucky
to own one.

What is the final word on this one? The MIK would match any MIA, even a HO? I'm confused now! :?

So alnico II is better than III.
I cant hear the difference.
Vnecks are better than C's.
Where will it ever end?

I just wanted to know what your opinion is on both guitars as it seems to be the same for both models. No problem my friend. Good night! :)

Well, since I started this thread I wanted to show it as it looks now. I made a couple of changes to it since I first posted these photos. I had some Texas Specials already so I mounted them in a B/W/B pick guard with a new switch and 250k pots with white knobs. I think it looks nice... but then again everyone thinks their own kids look great! I kept the original intact in case I want to go back.... This photo also has my AS73 in it.... so bear with me... :D My Lite Ash is a 2004 model and I love it!
