I just picked up a very mint almost unplayed Special Edition Lite Ash Stratocaster with a hard case from a local guy on Craigs List.... pretty good price too I think at $375. The birds eye maple is beautiful! The trem block looks to be brass? and the saddles are steel. Anyway, it sounds amazing!

It had been sitting in the case for a couple of years and needs a total setup and the pots cleaned as both tone pots are a bit scratchy. They aren’t quality pots anyway, so I may replace them with some CTS pots at some point. It came from the factory with 500k... dunno if I may put 250k in there or leave them as is. For now I am thrilled! :D

Here are some photos.

That's very nice looking - and for that price - you got a great deal.

I love that look.

Congrats on your new guitar.

The maple neck, natural body and black pickguard reminded me of some of the late 70's Strats.

What a steal! How do you like those SD's ? I've been thinking about getting a set.

These are the Seymour Duncan APS-1 that came with it from the factory, but I'm guessing they are the same as the production ones you can still buy. Anyway. they sound great. I'm not sure why Fender paired them up with 500k pots though when Seymour Duncan shows the wiring diagram for them using 250k. That being said I'm not sure of how the tone would be if I put 250k in there.

But as is, they sound very bluesy so to speak and clear. Not harsh at all.

Yep... Korea. They seemed to have used some American parts though. The trem arm from a USA strat fits in this one while it wont in an MIM strat.

The POTs are no so good though.... :(

These models only had about a four year run from what I can see. Started around 2004 and ended in 2008. They are still listed on Fender's web site, but on resellers web sites, it shows as discontinued.

Looks like a good buy indeed at 375.
