I HAVE A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE CREATION OF WORN OUT LOOKING GUITARS--- IN THE REAL WORLD A GUITAR MAY GET WORN OUT DUE TO ABUSE AND USE -- EVEN SOME EXTREME CASES SUCH AS SRV #1 OR RORY GALLAGHERS 61 STRAT-- BUT PPL WHO PURPOSELY BUILD OR BUY "WORN" GUITARS DONT MAKE SENSE TO ME-- ITS LIKE LYING-- (JUST CHECK OUT HOW MANY OVERPRICED $@!&#* MEXICAN STRATS WITH SCUFF PAINTJOBS THERE ARE ON EBAY GOIN FOR OBSCENE PRICES)
MY 14 YEAR OLD STRAT HAS ITS WEAR & TEAR & DINGS BUT NEVER WOULD I INTENTIONALLY WISH TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT HAS BEEN THRU MORE THAN IT HAS--( IS A BATTERED APPEARANCE SUPPOSED TO MAKE US THINK A PERSON PLAYS MORE OR HARDER OR BETTER THAN ANOTHER--) I RECALL BEING A TEENAGER AND SAVING EVRY DIME FOR 2 YEARS TO GET MY 1ST REAL FENDER-- ALL I WANTED WAS A SHINY NEW STRAT. OVER THE YEARS MY GUITAR HAS BROUGHT ME COUNTLESS HOURS OF JOY IN SOLITUDE AND WITH OTHERS-- IT HAS BEEN A PERFORMANCE AS WELL AS A TEACHING TOOL THAT HAS AT TIMES HELPED PROVIDE MY SOLE SOURCE OF INCOME--- ANYONE WILLING TO SHELL OUT BIG BUCKS FOR A PREPARED "VINTAGE" GUITAR IS IN MY OPINION MORE CONCERN WITH IMAGE THAN THE TRUE SOUL OF MUSIC.

GREAT way to sell bodies that got "dinged" during the finishing process.

Not really my thing though. I prefer "real" battle damage, and the smell that gets into a guitar from really playing in smokey, unsavory, dives.

Sort of like fake tattoo's if you ask me.

I WOULD PREFER A NORMAL MIM GUITAR, BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE WEAR LOOKS TOO ARTIFICIAL.

I AM TYPING LIKE THIS TO POINT OUT HOW ANNOYING IT IS, AND TO PROVE THAT PEOPLE REALLY, REALLY HATE IT.

Lay off the caps, and do a goddamn search before you post topics that have been beaten to death.

I tried a couple road worn's and have to say I didn't like them. It's not the same as the natural wear and tear that would occur on "my" guitar from "my" habits and "my" playing style. Sort of like wearing someone elses old 501 jeans, they fit but they're just not quite right. 8)
