Well it seems heavy metal/ shred is in another of its resurgences of popularity, so i wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of variation of:

Pretty decent guitars, actually, if I remember.

I would like to see a high quality reissue of the big block stra t and Tele too.

I await the years that just produce 'a strat, a tele, a Pbass and a Jbass'.

It'll never happen though.

Bring back the HM tele too, that was a guitar made to rock.

mid 90's Am. Floyd Rose series..

You could throw 'em at a wall and they would still hold tune... and that PAF pro was awesome driven, the mim doesnt even come close.

If I could find one, id buy it!!!

They may retire the Highway 1 series in the near future...been a lot of talk on the Forum on it.

I would like to see the HM series brought back. I bought a Squire HM back in the 80's and it was wonderful. I also played the Fender LIne of the HM before and would like to see a Re-issue of it in the future with all the bells and whisltles it had before.

Hi CV: I think Fender are rather more jealous of the Strat design and image than we sometimes think. I'm remembering Mr Shreddin's failure to get the Custom Shop to build him a Strat that diverged from the archetype in only modest ways.

However, I'll be amazed if we don't get a chambered bodied Strat sooner or later. That's a hole in the catalog waiting to be filled.

And I'm sure the VG Strat is the beginning of a journey rather than the end. We'll be going a lot further in that direction in the next couple of years, I'll be bound...

Cheers - C

I couldnt even imagine what type of new guitars Fender might develop ... Acoustic? How about something to straight at Les Paul?

I think Fender's EVH Wolfgang is nearly aimed right at Les Paul. But they need more models. Consider this ... they should call the current $3000 model the "Wolfgang Standard". Then make a $2100 "Wolfgang Player" with a thru-the-body hardtail and less frills (but still really sweet). Such a guitar could steal a ton of that $2000 Les Paul business.

Are you crazy????

Alwaystrat will come unglued....more than usual (sorry Always  ).

I do not want them to, but the the talk on the boards, who knows. I love mine. Only Fender will decide what they are going to do. But I do not see them retireing the Standard or American Series variations. Of course it could just as well be the Lone Star series.

^ Mind elsewhere: I was thinking about what might be to come, rather than what may be about to go...

Far as retirement is concerned, we're suddenly hearing several people reporting that the Lite Ash Strats and Teles are not to be found anymore. Still listed under Products on this website but maybe that's just while Fender reckon stock is still being used up in the stores.

So maybe no more Lite Ashes. If so, I'm more glad to have lassoed one of those than most other discontinued models of recent years...

Cheers - C

I loved that guitar so much, I had to put one together on my own because I couldn't find one!

I want Fender to come up with an intermediate line between the American and CS lines that offers a menu of user-configurable options. This would allow several lines such as HM, Plus, etc... to be ordered by the user kind of like Carvin's business model. Want a HM strat in rebel yellow with a real Floyd Rose and dual hums? No problem; here's the price. Sounds like a way to create jobs as well..

Hmm... I wonder what the reaction would be if Fender re-issued the performer?

What I dont get, is the MIA Tele with the bender- I mean come-on... country steel type sounds but what else are they good for? they dont really appeal to anyone else and have a small following... Bring back the Floyd Rose- or the slim strat replacement bridge and locking tuners... pearly gates plus in the bridge and drop in some SCN's neck & middle... PLEASE!!! lol dont leave me hanging Fender...
