Hi, just got my new yngwie strat from fedex today. The guitar plays great and there are no problems (so far). I do notice a slight curve to the neck towards the treble side. I'm not talking about relief or neck bow. I'm talking about puting a straightedge up against the side of the neck (by the fret ends) THe treble side of the neck is concave and the bass side of the neck is convext. So the neck is curved toward the bottom horn. It is extremely slight, and if I didn't have a straightedge I would never notice it. It plays great now. Obviously it was cut straight and has bent a bit since being manufactured. I'm wondering of the likelyhood of the neck to continue to bend in the future? I bought it brand new and can return it if need be. And after reading fenders warranty, I get the feeling that if it does bend in the future that they won't cover it. Any of you guys have a straightedge that you can check your neck? Maybe this is normal. Id like to know since I just spent so much money on this guitar.
Thanks,
Jimi

As the other repliers said, exchange it for a new one. Neck 'bow' can usually be corrected with the truss rod if the bow doesn't include buckling (usually at the body connection). But ... any type of curvature to the neck along a different axis is not correctable (some guitars do have double trusses which allow twist correction). This includes twist (where the neck twists along the length) and, worse, bend (what you are experiencing).

I have an 18" metal straight-edge and it sits flush along the entire neck of my Fender American Deluxe, both sides.

As I've stated in other threads, all guitars are setup and inspected before being allowed to be sold, so this happened after the guitar left the manufacturer. In most cases, it is due to improper storage conditions with respect to humidity and temperature. But it could also be due to blatant disregard such as having the guitar propped improperly for a long time.

Is this something that generally needs to be checked for?

Run to the Fed x return window don't walk. No joking I would return that in a minute no neck should curve in the middle to either side like that. That is not somthing you can loosen the screws and straighten the neck to the body or fix with a truss adjustment. If you try to pull it straight by tension on the truss you are going to get to much relief. Just return that thing.
