Hey All,

Recently I bought a 1992 SRV and absolutely love it. I have been playing it like I stole it, and now my beloved 05 American Deluxe feels like a toy!!

It is much lighter and the neck feels too small. :( It is my first ever Start too! :(

Has this happened to you?? As in bought a new guitar and now don't like the old??

heheheh I have one golden rule though. I NEVER sell (or give away) a guitar. My wife said the same thing... Sell it! I said NO WAY! :)

heh... I dunno about "not liking" my old guitar, but I've been wailing away inappropriately on my CS '66 since I bought it around the new year -- i.e., if I'm supposed to be packing for a holiday, I can be found noodling in a corner; if (like now) I'm supposed to be in bed because I (and mrs mondo) have to get up in five hours time... well, I've put the guitar down to type this, but you get the picture... my old ultra is still as good as it ever was, I guess, but like you I find there's no comparison to the new instrument at the moment.

I've sold instruments in the past when I was going through the honeymoon phase with a new one, though, and promised myself I'd never do it again unless forced. Eventually the ultra will be back in favour -- certainly if I ever get back into any kind of performing and need a backup (or just one versatile guitar)... right now, though, I am loving the '66 to pieces and if I'm not playing it I'm staring at it... and if the love affair never ends, my son will have a cool early '90s guitar if he decides he wants to play. The '90s will be all the rage by then, I'm sure.

I had exactly the opposite experience. I got a pricey axe and it made me appreciate my cheapie more.
