Unless you buy a new Fender with a nitro finish they will never wear like you would like. The finishes are very thick and hard. They will look good for a very long time.

The poly finishes will never wear out like the thin Nitro finishes. So the Road worn series was born to answer to this realization. I wish there was a Nitro finish MIM, done right, for your own abuse. If you think about it, when the RoadWorns runs its 15 minutes of fame, there will be a "new" marketing ploy and followed by Nitro finished Strats and Teles, MIM.

Free is about the only price I would pay for any pre-relic'd guitar.

A used guitar with signs of being used is worth more to me than any of the pre-relic'd guitars anybody makes.

So count me in the "don't like the Road Worn Series" crowd.

I know I'm most likely in the minority here, but hey, that's life.

Don't think you are in thr minority. i agree with you. I will refrain from stating my less than polite views on them.

I'm with you guys. I have force myself to behave whenever I see any mention of relic'ed guitars. I call them Posercasters.

I dig the road worns, but I don't see myself forking over the cash for a guitar that someone else got to beat up.

Yes. The wear should tell a story, your story, of how it arrived in that condition. As noted, it's no fun talking about someone else's 'battle wounds'. They have to be yours to be interesting and personal.

Why not just sell a guitar with instructions on how to wear it down yourself? ;)

Although when you buy vintage stock, most likely it has scars on it as well and they are not your own either. Even though they are real scars they dont tell a story to you.

Right, but then you'd be buying it for other reasons (collectible, you love the look, or the guitar in general - playability, sound, feel, etc.). The only one that really covers these pre-worn guitars is 'you love the look'. Otherwise, I'll impart my own wear and tear for less cost, tyvm. :D

To me, these pre-worns just seem like a gimmick to make you feel like you've been playing on the road for years even if you've never left your bedroom. I could be wrong but...

They should sell the road worn with a gunny sack instead of a case. :)

I'm like mentioned above, I liked the feel of the road worn but I wouldnt spend that kind of money on it.

You can almost touch the late 70's Strats at those prices.

If I wanted a beat up old guitar I am perfectly capable of doing it my self. But I would not. I'd buy a cheap beat up one on ebay and finish the job.
this all seems like a great way to make money on something the would otherwise end up trashing or selling as 2nds. Great marketing.

I have the 50's Strat and absolutely LOVE it!!!!! And to be perfectly honestly, I really don't care what people think about it. I buy guitars for ME. How they feel in my hands, how they inspire me. I'm certainly not going to buy a guitar based on what I think people will like or dislike. I've always loved the Relics that were coming out of the Custom Shop but couldn't ever justify paying that much for a guitar. These are exactly what I was hoping for...... ant to me, they deliver.

The Road Worn's just feel right in my hands. The more I play it, the more I like it. And when I'm not playing, all I'm thinking about is when I can pick it up again. THAT is what a good guitar should do. Inspire. I just look at it for a second and have to pick it up.

So I don't have any battle stories about the dings. Oh well. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Am I a poser? Maybe to some of you but I really don't care. When I pick up my Road Worn, I play. And play, and play.......
