I have a 1957 reissue in surf green. I love this guitar, It is by far one of
the easiest playing guitars I have ever played. And it sounds good too.
I play it through a Blues Jr. I have a tube screamer pedal for that[
good classic rock sound. I also have a Electro Harmonix Metal Muff
pedal if I really what some metal distortion thrown into the mix.
Great Guitar well worth the money. :D

Here is the pic of my 57 reissue.

My envy is so bad that I am currently in pain when I look at this pic. It's gorgeous- I have to have it!

Hijack :)
I have a question for all the 50s Fender enthusiasts.
Did Fender offer Ocean Turquoise as a custom color option in '57 for Stratocaster? I have been searching for DuPont Duco color charts and many Fender Custom Color charts and websites mention that color during the 60s... but how about 1957?

I really need to know this one, if I'm gonna have '57 Stratocaster made as an custom order. I want it to be exact. That Ocean Turquoise color is just so cool. Slightly aged and greenish parts look killer on that :)

I hope you guys (and dolls) can help me out here. Thanks already!

For some reason I think the options were black, white or sunburst. The pastel colours didnt happen till 59. I cant tell you why i think this or point to any website. Perhaps someone better than I will chime in or put me right.

Honestly I think the guitar is great but I think the color options suck. I mean if they can offer Surf Green why can't they offer Daphne Blue also?
Fender needs to get expand their color options on some of their guitars. Likewise why don't they offer Vintage White on the Classic 50's Strat? The only two guitars I know of that Vintage White is a color option is the Malmsteen Strat and the American Deluxe.

How does the neck feel on the 57s? I've been eyeing one in 2 tone sunburst for a little while now.

I think it's a nice soft-v shape profile. Fits many hands perfectly and really supports the "thumb over" playing style. I like the gloss lacquered necks but I can totally agree with some people who don't like it. They might prefer satin coating or waxed/oiled finish.

Some AVRIs have had neck problems, at least with the variating climate. The fret ends seem to pop out of the edge and stick to your hand. A little filing and sanding should do the trick... but leaves the edge of the fretboard "lacquer-less".

I work in a guitar store and if I say that one out of ten seem to do that. Some more, some less. Just wanted to give you a "heads up".

I have seen those "metallic" Custom Color options equipped with Rosewood fretboards mostly. That would mean they came up with those in '59 and on during the 60s. It's still funny that Fender offers those colors on '57 AVRIs.

I had to send an email to FMIC to get this straight... no answer yet thou.

Here's a cool website for those Custom Color options:
http://curtisnovak.com/restorations/Fen ... ndex.shtml
http://curtisnovak.com/restors/FenderCo ... ex-2.shtml

Hope someone has more info on '57 Stratocaster custom color options back in the day.

Cheers!

I'd love to get a chance to play one. None of the stores ever seem to have them around here.

I played the red 57 with rails bridge in the store and it made the G.A.S. list.

THAT!!......was a '57 Hotrod....a totally different guitar....different pickups, different neck profile. Great guitar...no argument there but definitely NOT a 57 RI.

You've already commented on niki's......that's what you get when you take my advice

I'm going to show this to my mom after I show her the price![/quote]

Have a glass of water and a comfortable chair standing by.

You had better have been good all year, eaten all of your vegetable, kept your room clean and done well in school for this one.

Personally, in a '57, I'd shoot for the Fullerton, but only if your Mom were in excellent health and you have been a saint.:!: :P
