Did anyone else notice that Fender guitars have suddenly gotten a lot more expensive? I first noticed on MusiciansFriend.com that Fender guitars specifically suddenly got a lot more expensive but checked other websites and the same jump had occurred. A few examples of guitars that went up in price are the Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster ($2462-$3500), Deluxe Players Stratocaster ($630-$800), American Standard Stratocaster and Telecaster ($1000-$1275), Standard Stratocaster and Telecaster ($400-$550), and almost every other Fender electric guitar. I was thinking maybe Fender did some big improvements on these models for 2009 or maybe they just need more money to make it through this economic crisis. I would be really thankful if someone could explain why this is happening. Also I'm really glad I just bought a Highway One HSS Stratocaster for $700 instead of $900 like they are now. Thanks for your help!

If you look thru the forums here, there has been -a lot- of chatter about this for quite a while now...well over a month. Basically Fender has done a 30% increase across the board. To be honest, Fender hasn't really raised their prices in a rather long while now so this was simply over-due.

Peace,
Jim

I wish these new people would start using the search feature. There must be 10 postings on this same topic. Its worn out, if you don`t like the price increase buy something else, its as simple as that.

no dude, i saw the changes with my own eyes on theperfectguitar.com, and at bestbuy.
however from 1 day to the next, prices levelled off again.
so i came on an apologized for yelling the sky is falling.
any way. it is true, the prices are jumping way up on everything fender.
amps tooooooo.

it is innevitable....
during this time, im seriously questioning fender's business judgements.....

Maybe you could blame the so called bullet proof American economy- it seems to be the blame for a lot of things recently, even in my country... even when we are in recession down here as a result of it all... just throwing that one out there.
