I'm outgrowing my old guitar and I'm thinking about buying a new one. The one I got is a 3/4 starter strat. Not a lot of playability. I like the strats but not the telecasters, and i really like the Sienna Sunburst paint. My price range is under 1,000 dollars, and I can finance, but only if it's under 30 bucks a month. Any suggestions?

I think the best guitar for the money is a 60s Classic Player. Make sure to check one out. It doesn,t come in the color you want but its a fantastic guitar.

go to your local music shack, and play a few strats. get the feel for the neck shape, fret size, radius etc...see what feels and sounds the best to you.

even if you plan on buying online, you will have a better idea on what you want. trust me!

I recommend the Highway 1 Stratocaster, but it does not come in the Sienna Burst.

I would also go to Guitar Center (hiss). I got a flyer in the mail that said they still have American Standards at the $999 price range "while supplies last".

I am sure that if you put your $1000 down, your monthly payment should be below $30 a month. Go check them out and see. This is the avereage price for a new one. Remember to change the option to the Sienna Burst. Check this out:

Do your research. You can see a lot of models at the big internet retailers: americanmusical.com musiciansfriend.com etc.

Then you might want to keep an eye on your local Craig's List and newspapers/sale ads. In these economic times, guys might be forced to sell some choice guitars and you might find a gem! But you need to do your research to know what things sell for new. I think some of the retailers will sell for less than the MAP (minimum advertised price) they ALL list IF you call them and negotiate.

Also check your local pawn shops. I work at a pawn shop and there have been three strats hanging on the wall for over two months now. all of them priced under $400.

Evidently there was a special run of Sienna Sunburst MIM standards that were made for Guitar Center. Recently there were a couple of threads in this forum on the subject of people who got them. Besides being beautiful, they have got to be fairly rare. Thus, they will hold their value much better over a regular MIM. You should try going down to your local GC to see if they can get you one. Even at today's prices, that would be a good acquisition.
