The decal on the headstock appears to be from the '72 reissues, but it's a four bolt neck and the '72's have a three bolt.

The tuners are definitely Squier (all the tuners I've seen on the '72 reissues were F stamped). I've never seen a serial number sticker like that on a Fender of any kind either.

In the end though, all that really matters is how it plays and sounds. Since it seems you like it, then I say it's $250 well spent!

(I'd change those tuners out asap though).

So the neck date (1999) and the serial number date (1989-1990) do not match up.

The thinner body lends towards squire but ive never seen the pickup routing and tooling hole in the neck pocket on a squire body before.

It looks like there is a date stamped in the neck pocket too.

while you are at it (taking pictures that is), how about a picture of the underside of the pickguard so's we can see the pickups and electronics.

1999, huh? What made you think it was early '90s?

Do the bridge saddles have any words on them?

+1
I'm leaning toward squier neck and bridge with fake decals with a after market or asian copy body

A little something that people have to remember is that coutless numbers of companies have made dup strat bodies over tha years and people have done many things with them much to somes dismay. Here is something from the Warmoth site to remind people.
And notice it says ect.

Fender® pioneered the detachable neck concept 50 some years ago. To this day, they continue to use the same basic dimensions on most of their offerings. Many other manufacturers have adopted these same dimensions into some of their own products (Kramer, ESP, Ibanez, Schecter, etc.).

Who knows what that body could be. Anyone can make labels ,waterslides and stamps. I sure there are many on here that could take a properly routed body and be able to pass it as a Fender using the knowledge we have if we were unsavery in character. But that body I dont think so.
