yeah, that seemed weird to me too. I got the Callaham bridge set up for a Reissue MIM strat I have, and that has the wider string spacing, even though it has a slightly narrower neck that the American Std. and Deluxes, and I saw that the string spacing for those are the narrower one. I had a 2007 American Deluxe that was stolen back in October, and I KNOW that the strings were wider set than on the reissue I have now with the vintage neck. I can tell playing because the fingers on my fretting hand rubs against the strings next to the ones im fretting on songs Ive played forever, and I know that didnt happen on the Am Dlx. I dont know what the deal is with that. I know that even though the spacing on the MIM Reissue is the wider, when you look at how they sit on the saddles, they tend to angle in a bit on some of the strings. I dont know the answer to your question, but it seemed odd to me too. BTW, if you're looking go get the Callaham bridge, you wont regret it, it is by far the best mod I've made to this guitar, and at this point, the body and neck (which is getting replaced soon) are the ONLY thing that hasn't been modified, I even changed the strap locks, and still it was the best thing.

cal. bridge seems nice -little pricy though - guitarfetish.com has similar bridge for a 3rd of a price - but here where my dilema comes in- the spacing - g.fetish sells 2 types one for mexican strats (only 50%) of them fit due to some bridge plates have trem hole plsce little too far back -a nd the other one they sell is USA strat but i'm sure string spacing matters - i'll email him he'e really good at getting back to u- i'll post ithe result ltr
