*whisper*....floyd has the best trem on-off. Fender should steal.

I've always found that kahler own floyd on every possible attribute bar tone. Neither perform too well on that front.#

The point is the guitar needs to move a bit in the case. Look at molded cases their never a airtight fit Why?
The guitar moves hits a springy cusioned surface and bounces back. It does this many times during one fall/crash. Even if you padded a airtight fit theres going to be movement of some form. Thus leading to potential trem then body (thanks twelvebar) damage.

Far easier to remove the trem than repair the block or repair paint chips.
If it worries you get a snap in trem. The callaham block is a snap in as is the wilkinson/gotoh.

I agree 100 percent. I remove the bar on my strat before she sleeps.

I was just tryin' to help the guy out with what HE wanted.

Word.

[edit]
The Kahler no doubt keeps intonation better than floyd, but the original floyd's bar has the 2-piece screw on that is really easy and convenient. I like it.

See what happens when you keep raising the bar. Sooner or later, someone has to concede :P

Doesn't Fender have the rights to Floyd's anyways?

They seem to license it just like everyone else on the Standard Strat® HSS with Locking Tremolo (Upgrade) -

Yea, I remember reading, at one point at least, Fender had an exclusive deal with Rose for the original/legit units.

Looking at the Floyd Rose Wikipedia article - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floyd_Rose

Quote:
...
Around 1982, Rose cemented an agreement with Kramer Guitars, whereby Kramer became the exclusive distributor of Floyd Rose Locking Tremolos, even those that were not yet attached to guitars.[3] The agreement stipulated that Rose would be paid a royalty for every unit sold. Kramer saw great potential in the new double-locking tremolo, and following the endorsement of Eddie Van Halen, they dropped the earlier Rockinger Tremolo in favor of the new Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo between June 1982 and January 1983.[4]
...
Further development continued. In 1989 Rose presented new low-profile version named "Floyd Rose Pro" that was developed for ProAxe guitars and a few of the Hundred Series models at Kramer.[2] However, heavy metal and superstrat popularity was rapidly declining, and Kramer eventually defaulted on the agreement, which resulted in a lawsuit between the two parties.
In January, 1991, Fender announced that they would be the new exclusive distributor of Floyd Rose products. While Fender used Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo systems previously, this move allowed Fender to offer a few models with Floyd Rose original tremolo, such as Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster in 1992 and Set-Neck Floyd Rose Strat in 1993.[5] Floyd Rose collaborated with Fender to design a Fender Deluxe Locking Tremolo, introduced in 1998 on American Deluxe Fat Strat model.[6]
In 2005, distribution of the Floyd Rose Original reverted to Floyd Rose whereas the patented designs were licensed to other manufacturers to use.

You can see that Fender held the exclusive from 1991 to 2005.

HMMMM ok actually floyd rose helped fender create the deluxe tremolo system ... really interesting...... but also floyd Rose would have never helped create a tremolo that could be better than theirs ? it is just common sense but I could be wrong since I have never used one of the deluxe tremolo systems from fender but I do love the original floyds :)
