Anybody know where I can get a moderately priced hard case that allows me to leave the tremelo arm attached to my guitar?

I don't think that's very safe to begin with. Unless you're sportin' a bigsby.

Thanks for the replies, thus far.

Here's the thing. The Stratocaster's been around since 1954, and is one of the most popular guitars ever made. And it has a tremelo arm. And it's really dumb to have to remove part of the guitar to put it in the case. Reeeaaaaal dumb.

Would it not make a hell of a lot more sense to have a case that has a slot in it's "roof" where the tremelo arm would fit without removal? Not talkin' rocket science here. This isn't even birdhouse science.

So, what I'm asking is: Is there such a case available?

Be the only one to have one. Take your hardshell case, and an exacto-blade, and cut a slot. You'll totally be the first, and you won't have to spend another 80-100 bucks for the "Trembar Case."

You are the man. Get creative.

Whats so hard about taking the arm off before you put the guitar in its box? You'd need to also secure the guitar along 3 axis before you closed the lid. They all move around in the case a bit, even with flight cases. To stop initial shock damage should the case fall.

Sounds a lot harder than unscrewing the arm to me.

Though your argument makes sense. obviously the intent was never to have the trem arm remain on the guitar even though the down side can be the eventual stripping of the threads on both the handle and the block.

You can maintain it in a non-play position pointed downward and backward, parallel to/in line with the jack. But you can't close the case in that position, either.

Get in touch with G&G in California, and tell them you want them to build a rectangular form fitting case for a Stratocaster, with enough headroom over the body to permit the keeping of the trem arm in the aforementioned non-playing position, and sufficient padding to stabilize and protect the guitar passively without torquing the trem block. Send them a photo of how you want the trem to sit 'at rest'.

I would bet on $300-400 for this because it will require a deeper top and bottom, and custom build innards.

Might just be simpler and less expensive to carefully install and remove the bar.

The first sensible post here. Remove it before storing in case. That's why they are made that way. :?

You might want add a pocket for the drill you are going to need, in order to dig out the broken stub of the tremolo arm that will inevitably be left any time you travel with it left in the guitar. And maybe some touch up sticks, to cover the scratches the broken arm will make in your finish as it flies around the case until you open it up again.

No one has, but the idea is not far-fetched. He wants to leave the bar in place, but would have to turn it backward in my opinion, for economy of space. Either way, it demands a deep case.

I can tell you from long experience that repeated insertion and removal of that handle without due diligence, will strip the threads and require a new tap and die procedure or entire replacement of the block and handle. I expect that was the reason Fender moved to a snap in version at one time.

Fender had some kind of arrangement with Floyd Rose several years ago.
They had something called a Fender-Rose tremolo on their 'divebomber' guitars. There may yet be one of those in the catalog.
