Is it worth upgrading a Squier Affinity start of get rid of it?

Unless you REALLY like it or have some kind of sentimental value attached to it, I'd say unload it.

Depends on the guitar. I've played decent Affinity strats and terrible ones. I happen to have one of the decent ones, which I've upgraded the pickups on and it's totally worth keeping. Do you like it? If so, keep it. If not, try a Fender.
