I recently purchased a white strat becuz I got a really good deal on it. I did not hesitate for a second. I immediately clicked the buy it now because I thought it was the deal of a lifetime. It should be here by Tuesday, but as I explore ebay more I found some very nice looking MIM strats. So my question is did I get an american or a very good MIM copy? Check out the pics and tell me what you think. I can't stop thinking about it and it's driving me f*cken insane. Help me!

~Disregard the sticker

It looks like an American Standard to me. Two-point Tremolo.
22 fret fingerboard === I don't think any Mexican model has 22 frets, right?

Its looks like a Mexican Strat but then again you can not tell the difference just buy looking at the Body.

You should have asked him to show you a picture of the serial number.

I own a Mexican Strat myself and i am customizing it to the point that it will sound much better than any American Standard on the market.

It looks kind of suspicious as he put a sticker on the back of the headstock where the serial number is, But i certainly hope you get what you asked for.

The thing you really need to worry about is it being a Chinese knock off.

The Mexican model does have 22 frets i just counted mine.

Mexican Standards have 21 medium jumbo frets. Seems none of the pics show the complete neck .Also the new MIM have the serial on the back headstock with the trasition logo. Now lets look at the pics together and count the frets above the double dot marker then the frets below it on the other pic looks to add up to 22.

I guess it's just a quirk of mine but I would not buy a guitar before knowing what it is. Did I get a deal or did I pay to much? :?

I agree with you fhop. Dont buy a mystery guitar because there is a reason its like that in the first place.

the MIM have the vintage string trees while the MIA have the new type that actually sits off the headstock at an angle from what I've seen, unfortunatly thats easy to change so doesn't give much to go on.

it does look exactly like the MIA standard I just purchased for $949. the color on the MIM seems to be paler while the MIA has more of a yellow tint to the paint.
