I'm planning on giving my 1980 strat a makeover. It's white with black plastic parts. I'm changing the black parts out for some kind of white. I already bought a Fender kit containing all the parts (aged white), minus the pickguard. I'm a bit puzzled about which pickguard to get. I see white and mint green available. One says it's for a American Standard, the others says it's for a '62 reissue. Are there sizing differences with these? Is there an aged white pickguard available to go with the aged white parts?

Some Strats have 8 hole pickguards, and others have 11 hole pickguards. Make sure you know which one yours needs before you buy.

The screw placement is different on some 11 hole pickguards too.

Thanks for the info. Are these two colors available from Fender? If not, where can I get them?

Is there a specific reason for that, or is it just sloppiness? Mine is an 11-hole pickguard, by the way.

Fender repositioned a screw hole or two in the past. The most common one is the one close to the middle pickup.

Hmmm, I might have taken a chance on one of those oczad. Looks like a good deal. I have already ordered one from Mojo though, so it's too late. I decided to go with the parchment pickguard from Fender. Not crazy about the price but it's a done deal.

OK my pickguard is on order, so yesterday I decided to prep the guitar and clean it up. Removing the old pickguard I noticed that the back side of it has some kind of foil shielding. My question is, do the replacement pickguards normally have this shielding?

Most will have some shielding tape around the control cavity area.

I just thought I'd revive this thread with a Before/After shot of my end result. I ended up going with the parchment pickguard (looks pretty much like white to me). Totally changes the personality of the guitar.
