Hey Chet,
I build/refurbish a handful of Strats a year. I have used necks from WD and Stew/Mac. My question is, does Stew/Mac make their own or get them from WD? The WD's I get are usually either the SR HA or SM HA, and they are very good.

To be perfectly honest with you, I have no idea.

Honesty is appreciated!
I've used WD products for several years now, and been quite pleased with them. Plus they're very responsive to the customers. So if anybody peeks in on this, I whole heartedly recommend WD products.
Thanks Chet!

If the necks seem similar, perhaps WD and Stew-Mac get them from the same maker.

Roger that: Mighty Mite for Stew-Mac and definitely not for WD. Don't know does build WD's, but they make a certain amount of stuff for themselves, so maybe that goes for necks.

On the other hand, I have used WD's necks in the past - very nice, though slightly different specs to Fender so I doubt they're officially licensed. One time the neck I wanted was out of stock and Ben on the phone told me they were waiting for a batch to come from the maker. Whether that maker was in house or not I couldn't tell.

Why don't you send them an email and ask? Then tell us here: I'd be interested to know...

Cheers - C

As far as I know WD builds their own bodies and necks.
