Post subject: Question about high action and intonation

I like my action pretty high, Im just wondering how high I can go before I run into intonation and sharp note problems ?

Each guitar is going to be a little bit different as far as how high you can take your action. Best advice I can give you is to experiment and see how far you can go.

I use pretty high action too, due to the 7 1/4 inch radius and fretting out on bends. All you have to do is adjust the intonation after you highten the action. Turn the screw on the saddle adjustment to the right if it's too sharp, or to the left if its flat

Thanks CA, I think 8/64th at the 17th fret is my sweet spot so i will leave it there for now I love tinkering about as much as playing. I know how to intonate my guitar, I guess i should have been more clear with my question I don't want to get it where it won't intonate properly.

Everything about setting up guitars involves a trade off of some sort--so don't worry about it if you like high action--I don't like mine as low as most people either.

It will affect intonation due to pressing the strings down--but you can still adjust for it--adjust it using fretted notes at the 12th fret as well as harmonics.

Low action creates other tradeoffs that are needed. SO set it up how you like it.
