Hi Jedi: no worries - it seldom turns angry round here.

You haven't told us who your nice dealer is, by the way...

Ah-ha! A name I've heard - never visited. I'm south of the river, so that's a little off my stamping ground. But a Hamer dealer, I notice. They're not so thick on the ground, so that's always good to know about.

...Though none in stock, according to the website. Oh well...

I have a vague memory that Forum user SpacePig is out in your direction and has complained of the lack of a shop he likes. Maybe he'll make his way over to Colchester for some good service!

Cheers - C

You know I think decent dealers are hard to come by. Trevors a good bloke and an honest guy. The staff as I said before are in no hurry. Even over an FX pedal..... :D

Unlike another place I went on my axehunt, where you couldnt even test the axes properly because the Strats (various ages) were covered in some horrid dust that gunked the frets, had rusted strings on them making them unplayable, and some teenage goon was trying to tell me that it doesnt really matter which one you pick cos they all sound the same..........

Muppets.

I'm surprised Fender lets some places "Carry the flag".

Lord, I could play a Strat right about now.......

Mustn't chew fingers, bottle of Baileys looking good.....

Cheers

Glad you made your decision... Sorry you're without for a few days or weeks? I'm sure your replacement will more than offset your current emotional state. Hang in there and please post some pics of the new one when you get it... I feel your pain...

I bought it in the full knowledge that it had markings very similar to yours. Visible on both sides, but particularly evident on the back:

If there is a difference it is that my body shows the WW marking all over, so it has a kind of intentional feel to it. Yours only seems to show it in that one spot, so it looks like a blemish rather than "character".

Wow. I've seen short little figuring "lines" like those on guitars before, but never in the amount that you guys have on your guitars.

Most people don't realize that Ash can have the same kind of figuring that Maple gets.

I have an Ash American deluxe strat that has similar, albeit fainter wwww marks on it. I looked at it very very closely before i bought it and came to the conclusion that it was a natural pattern in the wood. I'm certainly no wood expert, but thats the view I came to, and yours have the same 'quality' to them as mine do. Mine has a very similar finish to yours, its not Sienna Sunburst, but it is only slightly darker, I think its a light tobacco burst, and the grain is very visible.

The way i look at it is this, if clapton, or gilmour had my guitar, the custom shop boys would be trying to work out how to reproduce it right now. I don't think anyone could call Rory Gallagher's strat particularly attractive to look at! Anyhow, it makes my strat look unique, something that isn't all that easy to get with a production line mass produced product.

Is there anyway you can post of picture of your guitar's markings?

Here's a picture of similar (but mild) markings on the back of my first strat.
They were going with the grain, so they don't look so out of place.
