I have a 2007 Yngwie Malmsteen strat and the volume pot works normally... I think you should to change it...

This actually happens on my MIM strat too. The pot has some "play" in it before it catches the wiper blade in the pot. In other words the shaft turns a bit first and then the whole thing turns. I don't really mind it but if it really bothers you then just change it out.

You may want to replace the pots for a higher value. When I put in Dimarzio area 58's and 61 in my strat, I initially just used the existing 250k volume and tone pots. With noiseless you really have to use at least 500k ( i use 1 Meg). With the 250's, I could only really play it with all the knobs dimed out. If I rolled off the highs on the tone pots, it really affected volume and all around tone (I know they all do, but this was more dramatic ). And I couldnt bring the volume below 8.5 or the high frequencies would come off too. Once I replaced the pots, it works perfect. I'd find out what values they use in it. It really cant hurt to put in different pots, they only cost about $5, and if you dont like them, you can just take them out.
