I don't care what they are as long as my guitar stays in tune! :D

Sprezel, or Shaller locking tuners. They make string change a breeze. No wrapping, or tying off. Just pull it through, screw down the lock, cut the excess, tune, and you're done.

I love Schaller/Fender locking tuners. Mine are cool and have the "F" on the locks. My number 2 would be Ping tuners.

I use the Kluson Deluxe Vintage style on every Strat or Tele I've ever owned. I find them to be easy to change strings and very realiable. Plus I hate getting my fingers stabbed by string ends. I'm diabetic and poke my fingers for testing 3-4 times a day as it is. :(

i also like Schaller's i'm also very fond
of the fender ping tunners i find them to hold
the tunning very well even during dive bombs
there much better than any vintage tunner.

Very rarely does a tuning issue come into play with tuners themselves. It's generally the nut and the bridge needing some type of lubricant. I've been using Vintage style tuners for 19 years on my Strats with Trems and trust me, I've beat the hell out them.

in my opinion, (so feel free to disregard as you see fit,) I think that unless you use a crappy cheap $@! tuner there are plenty of really high quality options.

I have a couple guitars with the Schaller locking 'f' tuners, i love 'em.
I also really like the vintage tuners, you just need to learn one of the 4 or 5 ways to attach the strings, and there are a few ways, that all work quite well. Even the standard tuners work fine. Like someone said a couple posts above, most tuning issues have to do with the nut, bridge, or a set up issue, and vary rarely actually the fault of the tuners. Dive bombing with the whammy will give you problems on any guitar not set up with that in mind (and even on those sometimes!)
