My guitarist has a real 57 strat, Tobacco Sunburst, hardtail. Purchased from black market music in 1994 for $10,000. Worth every penny.

Listen to it here:

http://x31.net/theaftershocks.com/Songs ... mosolo.mp3

Recorded live at Bimbos 365 club in San Francisco through a mesa boogie top and a vintage tweed Marshall signed by Jim Marshall inside. Cry baby was the only effect in the line. I'm on Bass (72 Jazz with Bartolinis).

Enjoy...

the link works fine on a Mac in Firefox... it's a Quicktime file, so maybe some PC users would have to update their QT plugins. Sounds pretty good, too! I can't quite detect the '57-ness rolling off it in waves, but that could be my little speakers and the compression... heh.

I was playing a 72 Jazz with Bartolinis in that recording.

Still play it... on my way to jam all weekend in Nevada City. not sure if i can get Ian to pull out the 57 because it needs frets and he doesn't want to refret it... but he's been playing a very early Charvel live (from a body and neck he had custom made by Wayne Charvel in 1977) that he dropped in all vintage electronics. He owned a guitar store in the 70's (we are only in our early 40's btw) in Palo Alto, so he had 57 gold tops, etc come through his hands. As well as the 57, he still owns a burgandy mist, April 63 Jag that i love, and his 68 Tele that needs frets too... and various old Gibson's and Martins.

Here is a pic of the custom 1977 Charvel Strat and of course the Marshall i was mentioning up top...

http://x31.net/strat/charvel.jpg

Yes that is me on my Dan Ransom Custom Body with my 72 Neck and the Bartolini's.

I wont talk about the Charvel since this is a Fender forum, but hey, its a friggin awesome Strat.
