well according to this nifty lineup book I found, you should put the Compressor, then the Suppressor, then the TS-808/9 (either one), Flanger, Crybaby then Octave. that's what it looks like to me...but you can google it if you want. :D

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. Personally, my setup goes
Morley BH Wah>Boss OC2 Octave>Zinky True Grit OD or Pedal Boutique SRB808+ OD>Keeley DS-1 Distortion>Butler Tube Driver OD>Boss CE2 Chorus>Line 6 DL4 Delay>Line 6 MM4 Modulator>Morley AB/Y

I've always read and been taught that it can be most effective to use filter-type pedals 1st (wahs, octaves), OD's and distortions, modulation effects (chorus, flangers, etc), and then time-based modulation (delays). I put the MM4 after the DL4 b/c I like the sound of a modulated delay... which brings me to my next point... do what sounds good to you!

There is no cookie cutter way to string your pedals! Experiment, see what sounds right to you! From my experience, putting a wah near the end of the signal chain can make things sound very muddy, but maybe that's what you like. Same thing with the octave. If you are cascading all the other effects through the octave it tends to sound not too pretty.

Hope this helps...

There is a pretty good article on this subject at:

http://www.harmony-central.com/articles/tips/guitar_effects_guide/

I follow pretty closely what they have in that article.

My Chain is:

Boss chromatic tuner
keely compressor
R/C Booster
Zen Drive (distortion pedal)
chorus pedal
line 6 delay modler
tube amp

Hope this is helpful,

Mark
