hhhhhmmmmm....nice Strat!!!

I bought my black '01 MIA mainly because of the price. It had a white pickguard on it but I replaced that with the white pearloid and put the dome knobs on and she's beautiful to me now. :D

steviegee, where did you buy the dome knobs in a set of three?

I chose sunburst mainly because I wanted the classic look for my first stratocaster. If I buy a second one it will probably be blue or white.

hello i´m from mexico and i have a mim brown sunburst strat and a classic series 50´s fiesta red strat.
the first one i choose the color bc is classic fender and looks vintage
the second one i like bc the fiesta red its not like others it looks like salmon or pink and sometimes like orange really good color

Why?
Why do I play a Fender instead of a Gibson? Why play guitar instead of drums or piano or even an accordion? Why do I drive a Dodge when my neighbor drives a Ford? Why do some people like seafood and other people like steak? Why do some people like Nike and some like Reebok? Why do some people like IBM and others like Dells? Why do some people like Pepsi when others like Coke? Why are some people Christians and others are Hindus, Muslims, Pagans or Atheists? Personal choice my friend...personal choice. Everyone has different tastes and different things that are important to them!

With my '96 MIM Standard I had been looking at something like a 50's something or other reissue. Now honestly here, the other guitar had a nicer finish and sounded -a lot- nicer than my MIM but my MIM played nicer...it felt better to me. I didn't really care for the Lake Placid blue...I didn't hate it but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice even now, but that wasn't what was important to me. With my Squire Standard, that Cherry Burst finish just screamed at me and then when I played it, she played and sounded wonderful -and- it was only $200! If it had of played like crap then I would have bought it. With my first electric...my old Memphis LP copy, it was all I could afford! LOL!!!

For me the single greatest factor with purchasing a guitar is how the guitar feels and plays. How it looks or even how it sounds isn't really that big a deal to me...changing pickups on most guitars is easy enough and for that matter, I can even refinish a guitar if I truly don't care for how it looks but the feel...if it don't feel right to me then nothing else matters. To me, substance is -MUCH- more important than aesthetics...you can own the prettiest, most expensive car on the block but if it don't get you from point A to point B, who really cares? Gimme a beat up old Dodge that runs good -any- day!

Beyond that, as they say beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim

Like most people, the guitar I chose to take home was the one my hands didn't want to put down. I personally did not intend to come home with a black strat (0ne of my least favorites colors, everytime I saw a black strat with white picguard,I would thinks of penguins and nuns) but this is the guitar I brought home, not for looks but playability. I always figured I would change that white picguard but I have never got around to it. Still stroking the penguin.

I had actually intended to find a black/maple, white pickguard, SSH because I had a Univox years ago that I really liked with 3 HBs on it. There was a black/rosewood SSS where I got mine, wasn't sure I wanted another sunburst, but when I held it the first time, I KNEW. So, sunburst it was. Telly and the Strat look great together, virtually the same sunburst finish, too. Soon as I get a digital camera, I'll get some pics on here.
