I just bought a highway one on december, since then I've been having problems with the tuning, its already intonated and this is only happening on this particular guitar, I also own a telecaster and its perfectly fine, I dont know if I have to change the tuning machines or is there something wrong with my strat?

Thanks :)

How do the tuning machines feel? Are they firm and smooth when you use them?

Make sure you're stretching your strings really good. Lubricate each nut slot, even at the saddle where the string breaks over it. Strings can bind at the nut. GHS makes a great product designed by Rene Martinez, Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitar tech back in the day, called GraphitALL. One tube is a little over $4 and should last you a lifetime.

Does it not stay in tune with regular use, even when you're not using the tremolo?

I dont think tuning heads would cause the guitar to go out repeatedly and excessively. Are you winding the strings around the pegs neatly with 2-3 full turns. A simple rule i use for standard machineheads is to pull the string tight and snip it off about 3 finger spaces past its tuner. Pull it through the hole so 1/4-1/8" inch is sticking out and wind the string ontop of the bit sticking out in a neat fashion. Make sure the strings dont overlap like a woven basket.
Also i'd check the neck bolts for tightness and if you only hear it down the first 8 frets check the nut slot heights too.

Wont' hold, sharp, flat, can you be more specific? What have you tried? Do you have large temperature fluctuations where the guitar is stored? (like near a vent or window) etc. etc.

i have 4
2007 highway ones and never had a problem
with the tuneing. as a matter of fact i find the
fender ping tuners to hold the tuneing very well
much better than any vintage tuners.

thanks guys.
To be more specific: I live in Mexico, in a very warm place, actually at this moment temperature ocilates between 20-28°C, and its also one of the most humid places in the world, i believe its the third one, anyways, the guitar its stored on my room inside the gigbag, the windows are always open so the temperature inside my room changes a lot ... what I've done to this guitar: Intonated twice, because I changed the string calibers but I havent tried to lubricate the nut, I will check that. Also I just wind the strings 1 turn each and I didnt understand the rule about the 3 fingers, sorry my english its not that good :). About the tuningmachines, they are firm and smooth, and actually only the G B E strings are the ones with this problem.
thanks for all guys ^^

Right - all those factors that you describe will throw the tuning off. Once in another life, I tuned a harpsichord for a concert when the auditorium was cool and empty. After the audience was seated the room warmed up and the hpschd went pathetically sharp. I'll never forget the red-faced horn players trying to play in tune. Needless to say I slouched way down in my seat that night!

Weather conditions could be part of it. You mentioned that you changed string gauge. If you went larger the strings could be catching in the nut slots. A complete setup should have been done after going to a different string gauge.

One wind of the strings around the post is not enough. The strings will slip and never stay in tune. Properly install new strings , lubricate nut, saddles, and trees and then go from there. Your guitar may need some addition setup work as you changed string guage such as trem springs or claw, truss rod, action, ect.. Gotta put strings on correctly first though.

Just my 2 cents even though I don't have a nickle in that quarter.

If it was the change in temp/humidity, wouldn't it affect all of his guitars?
