When I play with my clapton Strat or American Ash Deluxe, I don't ever use a whammy. If a song calls for a whammy, I use either my Tele with a bigsby or my Gretsch 6120 W '57 Eddie Cochran. I know what your going to say, how could you not have it with at least one strat? I like to use my fingers for the tremolo sections when using my strats.

I've always used it and always will. It's a necessary part of a Strat for me.

Hi,

I use it all the time. When performing I like to use it with feedback, like SRV & Jimi (and others) . I also love to use the whammy bar with harmonics. I have a '02 USA Deluxe Strat with a Floyd Rose Tremolo Bridge...man I love that thang, especially diving with it.

I wouldn't buy a guitar without a Tremolo Bridge on it. Tremolo bridges are an important feature to me. My favorite bridge- Floyd Rose.

I wish they would make Teles with Tremolos. They do have a new 07 model with 3 humbuckers and a tremolo (J5 model), can't wait for the time to try it out.

I would like to hear some samples of the different whammy bar tricks you guys know, especially the harmonics. Is there a chance of someone posting them for me?

To give you an idea of what I know, I am mostly familiar with how the Ventures used the tremolo.

My Japenese Strat has a Fender System 1 tremolo, which holds tune very well. I compared the sound with a friends locked-down-with-wood-block-bridge MIA Strat and both sounded good to me.

Anyway, I decided not to block mine and start experimenting with the bar I just ordered from www.fretsonthenet.com .

I rarely ever use whammy. I have nothing against it or people that use it. It's just not my thing. If I'm playing a tune that calls for serious whammy I put down the Strat and plug in a floyd equipped Jackson Soloist.

I actually blocked my tremolo since I never used it on the strat. I have a Kramer with a Floyd Rose if I am in the mood to dive bomb.

My Strat bridges are set to float and the whammy bar is in place, but I hardly use it.

Tremolo or not???...NOT..of course it all depends on what you play...Metal, yeah, gotta have it for the deep dives...stringbends work good for me and if needed a finger grab underneath saddle intonation adjusters work pretty good...Right now I acually have my whammy blocked off and i love it that way..course I have no use for metal 'music' in the first place, kinda like rap..

I very rarely use mine. It just stays in the case most of the time. I only use it if I'm recording something that needs some nice light tremolo when playing chords.

I play mostly Blues and rarely use it. My newest Strat is 1 1/2 years old and still has the sticker over the hole! Five of my Strats have trems, but I only use it in the rare instances that I play surf.

sorry, but what does: " float the bridge and push on it with my right hand" mean?

My trems are set floating and the bar is on the guitar, but they are seldom used.

bassman51...

The link below isn't really about tricks, but it's just an example of stuff I like to do with the trem...
