Completely up to how you feel about it.

My personal opinion is I really don't care for gold hardware on any guitar.

+1 what Chet said.

The reason I don't like gold is that it just doesn't hold up to my body chemisty ... and then it looks real bad when the gold's almost all worn off. Just something to consider.

Hello Echo_Delta,

I like gold componetry when it's
shiny and intact, but, sadly as
Orvilleowner has reported far too
easily worn off. I suppose a good
plater could do a bang up job but
I think there would be considerable
expense involved in this exercise.
My thoughts.

Cheers.

as much as the gold looks nice, I'm kinda getting a cheesy feeling.

personally i'd stay stock.

I prefer chrome.

But my last guitar was gold--and I didn't care. If it wears off, sobeit.
If they'd had two identical guitars one with chrome and one with gold-or if I was having one custom made--I'd choose chrome.

My Les Paul was gold before I bought it--and the gold's worn off, so you don't really notice the difference with the chrome hardware I put on it.

Still--overall the chrome looks better as well.

"Some" guitars look good with gold, most do not. Of the pics you have, I like the chrome much better. The gold looks too out-of-place on that guitar.

I'm a huge fan of gold... most guitars, I think, could benefit from it.

I don't really like the look of gold myself for the most part, but if you're determined to do it I think you should get a gold anodised pick guard as well...

I like the look of gold on a white strat, but this looks too out of place. Keep it the way it is.

if you want to change the looks keep the chrome and change the tuning keys to a pearl or antique white to match the body color

I really dislike gold. It looks gaudy when new, and really bad once it starts to wear. Just my opinion...
