I,m looking at a used Fender Stage 185 amp in real good condition for $160.00. I was told this was a good buy and a really good amp. I play a Fender Fat Strat MIM and would like to have some of advice on what I am buying. Is this a good amp? New around 1989 or 1990 I think? And it's a 150 watt amp. Please let me hear from someone ASAP so I can make my mind up of whether or not to buy this amp. I play some blues and a little jazz and rock n' roll. I am 56 yrs old and been playing for about 30 yrs if that helps.

sounds like a decent deal, but make sure you plug your guitar into the amp and mess around with it a bit to see if it gives you:

-the tone you're looking for
-the volume level you expect out of the amp, considering it may be a few years old
-check all the settings, make sure all the adjustments actually adjust the tone and work properly
-make sure it feels right for you

i can sit here and tell you all kinds of information, but the bottom line is you're making the purchase, i'd say it would be a good deal, but make sure it suits you well before spending your money on something that may be a dud

also, ask the seller why they're selling it, it could be for a reason they're selling it, so you never know

Hi...about the Fender Stage 185 amp, I can tell that it is one of the most perfect products of Fender; it sound like TUBE AMP, but is Solid State...also, power and more power...A JEWEL, really!

RonA...They are very solid amps tone wise for Solid State , and are in fact the first successful implementation of SS from Fender. Good sounds, good power, and very reliable. And the price is definetly right.

+1 on what citizenerased said about checking it out, but would be surprised if anything was wrong with it...unless it was abused.

these guys are right, I'd love a Princeton Chorus or an Ultimate Chorus.. these amps were the bomb!! awesome line back in the day- can't say much for solid state amps these days from Fender though
