Hi...I've been considering the purchase of a classic player 60's strat. I was wondering when Fender started producing these strats with the current configuration...

Anyone know when these first came out? The one I've tried has the 12" radius neck and the 60's pickups...I like the sound and playability. They weren't new for 2008, were they?

thx...

Any idea if there was a 60th Anniversary model...or if it's the same and Fender just placed the logo on the guitar?

According to the spec sheets:

Classic Player ‘50s Stratocaster® - 7/2006
Classic Player ‘60s Stratocaster® - 7/2006

Elderly had one for sale at one time - http://www.elderly.com/vintage/items/30U-14492.htm - the 60th Anniversary Badge is present, so I would say that Fender made them.

I have the CP 50's with the 60th Anniversary badge. As far as I know, the specs are the same now as they were in '06.
